Potassium Iodate (KIO3) is an essential micronutrient for the body, especially among children and pregnant women. Table salt producers and distributors have an important role in ensuring the availability of iodised salt in Indonesia.

However, KIO3 supply in Indonesia is currently insufficient and KIO3 are typically sold in large packages in the market. This affects the quality and quantity of iodised salt production because many small and medium industries (SMEs) do not have the capital for buying KIO3 in large quantities.

In general, IDD is closely related to several diseases such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, goiter, stunting, and the risk of diseases such as coronary artery disease, autoimmune disease, mental disorders, and cancer.
